UAlbany, Lake George hosting eclipse watch parties

The University at Albany is hosting eclipse watch parties.

There will be a watch party on the uptown campus from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. There will be protective glasses available and poets will share work related to the eclipse.

A viewing party at the ETEC Research and Development Complex will take place at the same time.

They also will be launching weather balloons every half hour.

The Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York will be hosting an eclipse viewing party in Lake George.

A total of 100 Girl Scouts will be heading to Hidden Lake Camp. They will be making a cookie box spectroscope, a pinhole viewer and a UV bead demo.

There will also be a special snack in preparation for the 98% totality of the eclipse.

The Girl Scouts who go will receive a solar eclipse patch for attending the event.
