Lottery scam using name of real winner to seem legitimate
There is a scam that may catch you off-guard because part of the story is true and the names mentioned are real.
It claims to be from Christy Davis, the Powerball winner of $70 million.
The message goes on to say the recipients have been selected to receive $150,000.
There is a number to call to collect the money.
Here’s the problem: it’s true that Christy Davis won Powerball – it was back in 2020, so some people may think the message is legitimate.
However, experts say this kind of scam has been circulating for years.
