Board recommends state’s farmworker overtime threshold be lowered to 40 hours

The Farm Laborers Wage Board is officially recommending the state’s farmworker overtime threshold be lowered to 40 hours. It currently stands at 60 hours.

The Department of Labor now has 45 days to accept, reject or modify the recommendation.

Farmers had said before they oppose the move, saying it will squeeze them even further economically than what they already are feeling.

The change would happen over the next 10 years.
