There are strong words from the SUNY Student Assembly for the HVCC administration.
The assembly says the SUNY system was not included in any of the college’s discussions regarding not requiring students to be vaccinated before going back to campus.
They also say the campus population was not aware of the policy change, and students were not given opportunity to voice their opinions regarding their decision making process.
The college did reverse its decision, saying that permitting vaccinations to be optional is not feasible right now.
The SUNY Student Assembly is now requesting that a presidential evaluation outlined in the SUNY Governance Handbook be considered.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to HVCC for comment. They released this statement:
“The college is complying with SUNY’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and assisting students in getting vaccinated or tested, if exempt from vaccination. Related information was shared with the campus community on Aug. 22. See COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Fall 2022 | HVCC.”
