For 36 years, Tammie McCormick’s family has wondered what happened to her. Just 13 years old, the young teenager from Saratoga Springs disappeared in 1986.
For decades, her mom, Nancy Hieber has stayed away from news cameras. Now she’s agreed to talk with NewsChannel 13 about her daughter.
Tammie was the youngest of six children. She was about to turn 14 went she went missing. She would have turned 50 this year.
The family of eight lived in the Geyser Crest neighborhood in Saratoga Springs. They would travel to Florida for spring break and visit Cape Cod to mark the end of summer vacation.
Tammie loved horses, drawing and gardening with her grandmother.

On the morning of April 29, 1986 – a Tuesday – Tammie told her sister Jennifer, she wasn’t taking the bus to school that day, instead she was going to catch a ride to a friend’s house.
Her mom says they know that Tammie got a ride to Saratoga Lake to a friend’s house. That was the last time they saw her.
Friday morning, Nancy will be with people who have now become her friends – at the Ride for Missing Children. It steps off at 7:35 a.m. at the Guilderland YMCA.
