Hochul announces another $2 million to help Afghan refugees in NY state
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced another $2 million will go to refugee resettlement and social services agencies.
The money will help provide medical care, mental health care, language skills, job training, free immigration legal services, and more.
"New York’s stories has always been one of immigrants, and these brave Afghan refugees are here to help us write the next chapter in that great story, and their success will also be a beacon of hope for others seeking refuge from violence and persecution," said Hochul.
Tuesday’s announcement brings the total state commitment to $5 million.
