Albany County’s new COVID cases dip below 1,000 for first time in three days

Albany County is reporting less than 1,000 new daily COVID cases for the first time in three days.

The county said in their Tuesday update that 599 new COVID cases were reported.

"While the number of daily infections has dropped significantly, this is only one day and is not a trend," cautioned McCoy.

He also said the 7-day average of new cases has hit 1,000 for the first time since the pandemic began.

There are 118 county residents currently hospitalized, a net decrease of four.

Sixteen of those patients are in the ICU, a net increase of three.

Sadly, a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s and another man in his 80s all died. That brings the death toll to 479 since the pandemic began.
