Saratoga area group providing snacks, comfort to exhausted healthcare workers

FLAG Saratoga rallied behind healthcare workers during what they thought was the height of the pandemic. Now with frontline workers at their breaking point, they’re offering a helping hand again.

FLAG is short for Front Line Appreciation Group and with COVID cases surging, they’re re-starting their efforts to help exhausted medical staff.

It started in the spring of 2020. Four local women got together to raise money to raise the spirits of stressed healthcare workers who were dealing with the unknowns of a pandemic and often a shortage of personal protective equipment. They raised more than $40,000 to buy meals and gift cards from local restaurants and give them to appreciative frontline medical staff and first responders.

As things improved, FLAG’s work wasn’t needed. Now it is again. They’re partnering with the Chamber of Commerce to raise money to provide snacks and personal comfort items to exhausted healthcare workers.

There’s a website where people can donate.

They’ll start delivering to Saratoga Hospital later this week and will expand to other facilities as donations come in.
