Albany police take loaded handgun off the streets
Albany police arrested a man after he was found with a loaded handgun on Madison Avenue.
Police say they arrested 39-year-old Willie Green of Albany.
Officers were called to Trinity Place, between Ash Grove Place and Madison Avenue, around 5:35 p.m. Saturday for reports of a man with a weapon. They say they spotted Green tossing a handgun under a parked car near the intersection of Grand Street and Madison Avenue. When officers tried to stop him, they say he ran down Madison Avenue.
Police quickly caught up with him, and found a loaded 9 mm handgun.
Green was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and is set to be arraigned Sunday.
