Parent, disability advocate calls on Hochul to keep masks in schools

While some people want the mask mandate at schools gone, a disability advocate and parent is coming forward to say she wants it to stay.

Having an immunocompromised family means masks are a way to protect them.

Lavigne says her children deserve to go to school in-person, but she says schools and the governor aren’t taking children with disabilities into account when considering lifting the mask mandate.

As we wait for Gov. Hochul to make a decision about masks in schools, LaVigne would like to see them in place until the end of the year.

She says a few weeks of declining cases isn’t enough.
