Road closed for Tobin’s First Prize plant demolition

Drivers will want to avoid an area in Colonie as a longtime eyesore is finally torn down.
Starting Monday through March 7, Exchange Street from Russell Road to Everett Road will be closed for the demolition of the former Tobin’s First Prize plant.
The old meat packing plant has been closed since 1981. The building and the property have been decaying.
Bill Hoblock and his company announced plans a few years ago to transform the site into a neighborhood, featuring residential living, retail, recreational, and commercial space. Hoblock hopes to be able to begin the construction phase by late this year.
