The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation and the City of Schenectady are partnering for the eighth year of the popular Hometown Heroes Banner Program. It recognizes active duty and veteran service members, both living and deceased. Each banner honors a Schenectady County service member and includes their name, branch of service, and photo.
Banners will be displayed on light poles in Downtown Schenectady from mid-May until mid-November. Major sponsorship support has been provided by SEFCU each year since the program began in 2015.
"I love this program, because I believe every day should be Veterans Day, every day should be Memorial Day, and we know that it’s not," said Michael Castellana with SEFCU.
