A Schenectady man has been arraigned on murder charges, stemming from an incident on Christmas Eve last year.
The arraignment comes after a Schenectady County grand jury returned an indictment against 51-year-old Malcolm Gadsen on numerous charges, after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, January Butcher.
Officers responded to a call in the early hours of Christmas Eve after Gadsen called police saying he was having a crisis and then said that he had committed a murder. After police forced entry into Butcher’s apartment on State Street, they found her dead inside.
Gadsen also faces charges of tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.
