Push underway for more school resource officers in Guilderland

Student safety is a top priority as districts around the Capital Region develop their school budget.

In Guilderland, there is a push to add more school resource officers.

There is one officer based out of the high school covering all seven of the district’s buildings.

During the school board meeting this week, some asked for at least three additional officers.

There is nothing in the budget now about adding more resource officers.

There will be more budget discussions.

Guilderland residents will vote on it on May 17.
