Troy teen charged with having illegal gun

TROY – A teenager is arrested in Troy for having an illegal handgun.

Police say they tried to make a traffic stop on Hoosick Street around 10:15 Wednesday night.

However, they say the car took off and a passenger ran away.

That passenger turned out to be a 15-year-old boy. Officers say he had a loaded gun with him.

The teenager is now in the juvenile services unit.

Police say the car was located a short time later, unoccupied. They are still looking for the driver.

So far this year, police have confiscated 21 firearms.
