Queensbury teen in urgent need of new kidney

QUEENSBURY – At around Christmastime, a 17-year-old from Queensbury suddenly found out that she has end stage renal disease.

Isabelle Perkett is on dialysis now and in need of a transplant.

It seems her kidneys never fully developed, but she only recently got sick.

Isabelle says she really misses junk food and going to restaurants.

The typically active 17-year-old girl has had to change a lot about her life since that day just before Christmas when she learned she’s in end stage renal failure.

It came out of the blue. She got up one morning and was feeling weak and dizzy. Her mom feared Isabelle might have COVID, so they went to urgent care and then to Glens Falls Hospital.

Once in the emergency room, they said Isabel’s blood counts were dangerously low. She needed a transfusion and had to be rushed to Albany Med. They ran more tests and told them she’d need a transplant.

Now she’s on dialysis 10 hours a day, every day, while hoping they can find a healthy person with Type O blood to donate a kidney to Isabelle.
