Longtime reporter and trailblazer Ken Screven has died.

Ken reported at WRGB, Channel 6, for more than 30 years and was the first Black man hired as a TV reporter in the Capital Region.

He was known for his booming voice and his thoughtful approach to reporting stories.

He had a commanding presence in the field, and was the reporter many of us looked up to.

Ken Screven would have turned 72 years old this September.

May he rest in peace.
