Fallen NY officers honored at annual memorial ceremony in Albany

Gov. Kathy Hochul helped honor 49 police officers who sacrificed their lives in service to local communities.

The annual New York State Police Officers Memorial Remembrance Ceremony was held Tuesday in Albany.

Among the officers whose names were added to the memorial wall this year -Sergeant James Monda, who died after entering the Great Sacandaga Lake in Fulton County. He was one of 44 men and five women who died from injuries they sustained on duty, or as the result of COVID-19 or Ground Zero-related illness.
