SHEFFIELD, Mass. – The FBI and other police agencies continue to search for something or someone near the banks of the Housatonic River in Sheffield, Massachusetts.

That search has peaked the curiosity of people in the Berkshires and beyond.
Several sources say this search has nothing to do with the disappearance of Meghan Marohn from nearby Lee, Massachusetts more than a month ago. Lee is located about 15 miles north of Sheffield.
Whatever it is investigators are looking for in the 156-acre cornfield remains a mystery.

The large law enforcement contingent that included the FBI and local Sheffield police officers has been there for two days now.
During that time, an excavator, a grader and other machinery have been visible. Detectives left the scene early Friday evening, although some of the heavy machinery equipment remains.
This FBI search remains a major mystery in the small town, and people are definitely talking about it.
The FBI stresses no one in this community is in any danger because of this ongoing search.
