Gillibrand in Albany to discuss income equality bill

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says the pandemic benefited the wealthiest Americans and many large corporations, while women and workers of color saw their incomes fall.

The senator was in Albany Tuesday pushing for the "Protecting the Right to Organize Act".

She says it will address income inequality and strengthen a worker’s right to bargain for better benefits, fairer wages and safer workplaces.

"As we focus on rebuilding and recovering, we can’t lose sight of the fact that it’s the working people who are the true engines of our economy and our communities," said Gillibrand.

The proposed legislation would penalize employers who violate workers’ rights and increase transparency between workers and management.
