Good News: Countdown to Triple Crown fundraiser, free Happy Meals

Six airmen from the New York Air National Guard’s 109th Airlift Wing – based at Stratton Air National Guard Base have been named “Wing Airmen of the Year.” Airmen that receive this distinction are exceptional leaders, have gone above and beyond their typical job duties and exemplify the Air Force core values of integrity, excellence and service before self.

Racing museum to hold fundraiser

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to a special “Countdown to the Triple Crown” fundraiser on February 4, 2023. The new event is exactly three months before the Kentucky Derby. It will feature hundreds of silent auction items and an online auction of unique items and experience packages to benefit the museum. Guests can attend the event in person at the museum from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or bid on special packages online.

Lunar New Year Celebration

The Chinese Community Center in Latham has a Lunar New Year celebration Sunday, to mark the year of the rabbit. The year of the rabbit is said to be one of the lucky signs of the 12 zodiac years. Performances featuring kung fu, dancing, traditional instrument playing, and singing, will highlight the talents and culture of Chinese Americans celebrating the new year. The event gets underway at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the SUNY Performing Arts Center.

Free Happy Meals at McDonald’s

Now through the end of March, customers can snag a free Happy Meal with a $5 purchase on Wednesdays. You have to use the McDonald’s app to cash in on the deal.
