Good Samaritans to the rescue in Hudson
DPW workers, a police sergeant and a former police patrolman in Hudson all recently saw a house on fire while passing by. They all got out, and helped the homeowner struggling to put the fire out with a garden hose. The group grabbed buckets of water and shoveled dirt to put the fire out.
Schenectady Foundation Scholarships
Applications are now open for the Schenectady Foundation’s scholarships. The foundation is handing out $38,000 in scholarships this year. Students interested in teaching and STEM can apply at this link.
Science Olympiad tournament
Young scientists are getting ready for the Capital Region Science Olympiad tournament at Ballston Spa High School. Teams from more than 20 high schools are registered to attend and compete for a chance to go to the state competition. The schools include Columbia High School, Bethlehem High School, Voorheesville and Niskayuna in addition to Ballston Spa.
Indian Ladder Farms headed to National Toboggan Championships
A team from Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont is on its way to Maine for the 32nd annual U.S. National Toboggan Championships. The head brewer of the farms cidery and brewery as well as the co-owner are taking part. This is the only traditional wood toboggan race in the country. The championships take place this weekend.
