NY DMV’s inspection stickers getting a new look
The vehicle inspection sticker on your car is getting a makeover. The new style will add a layer of security, according to the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

The new print on-demand stickers will be printed out at the inspection site and will include information specific to the vehicle. That will make every sticker unique.
“This new process will enable inspection stations to print stickers right on their premises, rather than having to wait for a supply of stickers to arrive from DMV,” DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder said.
Some vehicle owners have already received the new stickers. DMV expects the transition to be complete by the end of 2023. You’ll still see some of the old-style stickers on cars through 2024.
The color of the stick will still change each year.
