Gaffney’s fined $70K by NYS Liquor Authority

Gaffney’s Bar & Restaurant was fined $70K by the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) after being shut down because of a series of incidents that happened at the Caroline Street business since late December.

The business was shut down at the beginning of May by Saratoga City Hall after two checks to pay for licenses bounced. Gaffney’s was also charged with five violations by SLA.

Although they will be allowed to reopen after paying the fine, they will not be able to have live music or DJ’s. They must also close at 2 a.m.

All patrons must be checked by a metal wand detector at the door before entering after 9:30 p.m. The business must also use an ID scanner and call the police for any fights that break out, according to SLA documents.
