New program to increase buying power for SNAP recipients

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new initiative Wednesday that will double the buying power at farmers markets across the state for SNAP recipients.

The FreshConnect Fresh2You program will provide a dollar-for-dollar match at participating farmers markets. That includes produce, dairy and meats for SNAP recipients.

The program begins on Thursday.
