A New York court has rejected a lawsuit to consolidate New York’s primaries to a single day on August 23.

The legal challenge was filed by the League of Women Voters.

The group argued two primaries is a costly burden for taxpayers and local election officials.

However, the state Board of Elections says because ballots are already printed and staffing is planned for later this month – it would be more costly to change things again.

For now, statewide and Assembly primaries will be held on June 28, congressional and state Senate races will be contested on August 23.
