The Broadalbin Beach will soon look a little different.
The sand will be replaced with rocks and native plants, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said.
The goal is to deter swimming and limit erosion on the shore.
DEC will be installing a new path to the water and hope to repurpose portions of the beach for non-motorized boating access.
DEC wants to reduce illegal activities at the spot and try to free up police and other site management resources.
