Luisa Agustin loves to cook. She grew up as a child in Mexico, watching family such as her mom and grandma make delicious Mexican food in her hometown of Oaxaca.
Her favorite dish prepared by those women was tacos and pozole, which includes chicken and corn.
Agustin had hoped to one day have her own restaurant. However, she ended up leaving Mexico, coming to the United States and then to Hudson. Then she had her kids, so she put her own dreams on the backburner.
However, she still enjoyed cooking and did so for special events. Friends would tell her to open a restaurant.
For two years, she saved her money. Last December, she opened El Sabor de Oaxaca in Hudson.
She tears up just thinking of what the women who taught her to cook would think of her now, cooking for others.
Hear what she hopes her mother and grandmother would say about everything she’s accomplished by watching the video of Elaine Houston’s story.
