Dennis Drue out on parole in 2012 Northway crash

Dennis Drue, the man who caused the deadly crash on the Northway that killed two Capital Region high school students and injured two others, has been released on parole.
The crash in December 2012 killed Christopher Stewart and Deanna Rivers in 2012. Both were students at Shenendehowa High School.
Two other teens – Matt Hardy and Bailey Wind – were seriously hurt.
Drue was driving recklessly under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he slammed into the back of an SUV.
He was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. The families of the victims have always opposed parole for Drue, saying they wanted him to serve as much time as possible.
Debbie Rivers, the mother of Deanna Rivers, released a statement Thursday, calling it a “sad day.”
Dennis Drue, the man convicted in the 2012 Northway crash that killed two high school students, has been granted parole.
“When another human kills your child and sibling, you do not get over it. It will never be okay that he gets to live his life, as he is the one to blame for Deanna not living hers. His one decision destroyed our family and a whole community,” the statement said.
She went on to say that her family will never forgive him.
