A manhunt is underway in Berkshire County after a stabbing, leading police to two different scenes across the county.
The stabbing at a home on North Summer Street in Adams led police to the home of the suspect, 20 minutes away on Chapel Road in Savoy.
Police believe he fled there after stabbing his ex-girlfriend inside her home around 5 a.m.
The tactical team – along with crisis negotiators – surrounded the suspect’s home, and established a perimeter. They believed he was holed up inside. However, the place was empty once they gained entry.
Now they’re searching the heavily wooded countryside.
Back on North Summer Street in Adams, police crime scene tape – along with Adams police squad cars – maintained their presence on Wednesday.
The woman suffered serious stab wounds, said police, but they expect her to survive.
This was a domestic incident, said police, and not random. They don’t believe anyone else is in danger. However, they are urging Savoy residents to remain vigilant and to exhibit caution around anyone who appears suspicious or out of place.
