The man accused of shooting a state trooper on I-88 in Duanesburg Friday has died. Police think Nelson Troche, 32, of Bronx, NY shot himself.
Troche was rushed to a field at Shafer Park across from Duanesburg Elementary School. He was in an ambulance for about a half-hour, then flown away.
NewsChannel 13 has also learned that Troche was arrested by state police last week, and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, and false personation. All of those are misdemeanors.
He was issued an appearance ticket for Cairo Town Court.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
