A wooden prayer candle box was also cut open. An unknown amount of money was stolen from that.
There are no security cameras set up in the church.
Rensselaer Police are hoping to find anyone who may have noticed something or anyone suspicious outside the church Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.
The church pastor wasn’t around to comment when NewsChannel 13 stopped by at the rectory Tuesday morning.
Anyone with information should contact Rensselaer Police at (518) 462-7451.
