Decades of groundbreaking research was lost at RPI.
A $1 million lawsuit has been filed by the school in Troy against a cleaning company, NBC News reported.
This comes after a custodian trying to stop an annoying beep allegedly turned off a lab freezer by mistake.
Cleaning employee Joseph Herrington feared the breakers were off and allegedly tried to turn them on.
When the research staff showed up the next day, they found the freezer off and up to a catastrophically high temperature of -32° Celsius.
The value lost is said to be worth more than $1 million.
