A new study shows a link between COVID-19 and high blood pressure.
Hypertension was seen in about 20% of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 after a six-month follow-up doctor’s visit, according to a study. High blood pressure was also seen in nearly 11% of patients who were not hospitalized. It was more common among older adults, men and people with preexisting health issues.
A doctor said another issue is what happens after a COVID-19 infection. People may be gaining weight because they are not able to exercise. Symptoms of high blood pressure aren’t always obvious, which is why it is important to monitor it.
