Man dies in Amsterdam motorcycle crash

A man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a car Friday night in Amsterdam.

The crash happened at around 9:16 p.m. on State Highway 5s near the intersection of Destefano Street, police said.

Emergency responders tried giving lifesaving medical aid to the 33-year-old motorcyclist from the town of Florida, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man from Amsterdam, was the only passenger in the Chevrolet Equinox and was not injured, police said.

He is fully cooperating with police and there are no signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol, police said.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
