Testimony: Accused killer told ex-girlfriend that he addresses his pain by ‘hurting others’

The accused killer of the New Scotland physician assistant had told his ex-girlfriend — the man’s new wife – that he had planned on killing himself and addresses his pain by “hurting others,” according to testimony in the case.
Jacob Klein, 42, is allegedly killing 35-year-old Philip Rabadi at his home in April 2022.
During the second day of testimony in the trial, an employee at Whitepages testified that Klein had paid for information about his ex-girlfriend Elana Radin and Rabadi. The information included their address and square footage of the property on Miller Road.
Prosecutors are continuing to paint Klein as jealous of the woman who broke up with him in 2017. They showed an entire email, sent in the days after she married Rabadi in 2021, describing a plan to die by suicide and make it look like a drowning. However, he said he decided against it. Klein also said he has “psychological issues.”
Klein maintains his innocence and said during opening arguments that he did not care that he and Radin broke up.
Testimony continued Thursday on the second day in the trial of a man accused of killing a New Scotland physician assistant. Jacob Klein, 42, is accused of killing 35-year-old Philip Rabadi at his home in April 2022. Klein had previously been in a romantic relationship with Rabadi’s wife Elana Radin, which ended in 2017.
Also on Thursday, investigators testified about the steps they took in tracking Klein’s movements the week of the murder.
An Albany County Sheriff’s investigator testified regarding a video showing Klein throwing out a piece of painter’s tape at a rental car service in the hours after the murder. That same type of tape was found on Rabadi, who was bound and had multiple stab wounds.
Klein, who is representing himself, asked on cross-examination if police had considered any other suspects and he said he had not.
Jurors also heard testimony from the investigator regarding video footage showing Uber drivers dropping off Klein at an Airbnb at 27 Parkwood St. in Albany.
Klein has said he was in the area to investigate potential real estate investments.
The owner of the Airbnb testified that she was out of the country when she got a call from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office noting that there was a “situation.”
Testimony resumes Friday morning.
