Troy block party helps raise awareness of gun violence
TROY – In recognition of "Gun Violence Awareness and Prevention Month," Unity House – in partnership with Night Hawks Restaurant in Troy – was hosting a block party on Friday.
The city has dealt with a number of shootings this year. Some of them have been deadly.
With the weather getting warmer, there is always that fear of a spike in crime. The goal of the event is to educate community members about gun violence and raise funds.
The money raised will go towards Unity House’s anti-violence community efforts.
The party went from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
