Rabbi in Israel grateful for Capital Region support

What’s happening right now in Israel is resonating around the world, including here in the Capital Region.
Rabbi Sam Shor was born in Niskayuna. He attended high school. After becoming a rabbi and getting married, he moved family to Jerusalem. He’s lived there for about 20 years.
He and members of his orthodox congregation were celebrating the joyous Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah on Saturday, when air raid sirens began blaring across the city.
The service had to be moved to a bomb shelter downstairs. That’s a way of life many Israelis have grown accustomed to.
Shor prays daily that peace can be restored, that hostages can be liberated, and that normalcy can return, he said.

He is grateful beyond words for the love and support he’s seen from people all around the world, he said.
That includes a rally at Congregation Temple Beth Emeth in Albany on Monday evening.
Hundreds more joined them on a livestream for a show of solidarity that folks in Israel were not only well aware of, they were also very appreciative.
