Hikers rescued from Johnsburg mountain

A group of hikers was rescued from Crane Mountain in Warren County.

A group of hikers was rescued from Crane Mountain in Johnsburg, Warren County.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation released the information on Tuesday.

The group – which included a 9-year-old – called 911 last Thursday, saying they were running out of daylight and didn’t have headlamps.

Rangers responded and rescued the group around 8:30 p.m.

DEC reminds hikers to bring the 10 hiking essentials, even when planning a short trip. Those include navigation tools, insulation and rain gear, lights, first aid supplies, emergency kits, tools to make fire, food, and water, sun and insect protection.
