Parents cautioned against using soft bedding for infants
Sleep guidelines to help reduce SIDS.
October is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Awareness Month.
About 3,500 infants die from sleep-related deaths in the United States every year. The American Academy of Pediatrics emphasizes that babies need to sleep on their backs, especially on a flat surface without any kind of soft bedding.
A lot of incidents of SIDS are related to infants overheating or suffocating in bedding.
They should also not be used in car seats, strollers, swings and infant carriers.
