The Capital Region Aquatic Center is teaming up with Special Olympics New York.
The new partnership will make swimming more accessible, allowing athletes to explore new opportunities, the two organizations said.
Details are still scarce about the 80,000-square-foot center, which will be built inside ViaPort Rotterdam.
The facility would be used for weekly practices and competitions.
One of its biggest hurdles has been finding enough aquatic facilities that can house its athletes, the Special Olympics said.
