The 79-year-old woman who was struck in the parking lot of Glens Falls Hospital continues to recover from serious injuries, as the driver has been ticketed for leaving the scene of the accident.

Rosemary Tripp was heading into the hospital to visit her husband, who had been there for several weeks, according to Tripp’s granddaughter Jessica Blair.

Tripp parked in a handicapped parking space and was walking in the crosswalk when she was hit.

Tripp has bruises, a broken elbow, foot, ankle, hip and stitches on her head. She just had surgery on her hip and faces another surgery on her elbow later this week, according to Blair. Her grandmother is an avid gardener and very active.

“I’m really praying that she is going to be able to do those things,” Blair said.

Betty Winney, 74, of Hudson Falls, has been ticked for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Glens Falls Police Chief Jarred Smith said that after Tripp was hit, Winney waited for EMS to arrive to treat Tripp. Winney indicated that she was nervous and left.

“Accidents happen, but you need to stop. If you see somebody hurt, it doesn’t matter how scared you are of the trouble you might get in, think about the repercussions from that,” Blair said.

A GoFundMe account has been established for her medical expenses.
