Fort Edward man gets 8 years in prison for drug trafficking
A Fort Edward man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison and three years of post-release supervision for drug dealing throughout the region.
David T. Henderson, 47, was one of three people arrested in March as part of an investigation into trafficking cocaine and fentanyl in several counties. Police searched his vehicle on March 12 and found nearly half a kilogram of cocaine and numerous fentanyl pills.
Henderson has at least five previous felony drug convictions.
Henderson must also surrender the 2019 SUV he used in his drug transaction, so it can be used for law enforcement purposes. His sentence also satisfies charges he faced in Washington County.
Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen said this case will have a big impact. As of late November, there have been 38 fatal overdoses in Saratoga County and 647 nonfatal overdoses this year, Heggen said.
“The deadly combination of cocaine and fentanyl has taken so many lives, and at the same time bail and discovery law changes have made it more difficult than ever to prosecute these cases,” she said in a statement. “This case is an example that while true drug addicts need treatment, true drug dealers need prison. Henderson fit squarely in the latter category, preying on those with addictions.”
