The U.S. military will be grounding all its Osprey V-22 helicopters. This comes one week after eight Air Force Special Operations Command Service members, including a Pittsfield resident, died in a crash off the coast of Japan.
It happened during a training mission.
Staff Sgt. Jacob “Jake” Gallaher was killed in that crash. He graduated from Taconic High School in Pittsfield.
A preliminary investigation found something went wrong with the aircraft, the Air Force said.
The investigation is still ongoing.
