Report on allegations of abusive sports culture in Saratoga Springs complete
The firm investigating whether the Saratoga Springs City School District fostered an abusive culture in athletics has completed its report, school officials confirmed on Tuesday.
District spokeswoman Maura Manny said that the report by the Harris Beach law firm is complete, and the district would determine this week when its release date would be.
The Board of Education has a scheduled meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. This topic is not listed as one of the agenda items.
Manny would not state whether it would be discussed and offered no additional information.
The allegations of an abusive culture first surfaced in October, when attorney Martin Greenberg, who represents at least 17 former student-athletes or parents, had sent a letter to state and school officials asking them to investigate claims that coaches pushed athletes to play through serious injuries and demeaned them.
The bulk of the accusations were focused on the girl’s cross-country program, which alleged that they were urged to practice every day of the year and bullied.
