An Albany man is facing several charges for allegedly driving a stolen car under the influence and being a fugitive from justice.

State Police saw a suspicious vehicle stopped in the lane of travel on Madison Street near the New York State Museum on Saturday at around 3:50 p.m. The driver Nizaliek T. Morris, 24, didn’t have a valid driver’s license, said police. He was driving under the influence of drugs, investigators said. An investigation determined that the vehicle he was driving had been stolen from North Pearl Street 20 minutes earlier.

Police also found a controlled substance in the vehicle, they said.

Morris was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and vehicle and traffic violations.

He was also found to be a fugitive from justice due to a warrant issued by New Jersey and was in violation of New York State Parole, according to police.

He was arraigned in Albany City Court on Monday, and sent to Albany County Jail pending extradition.
