Cambridge school board delays vote to change mascot
Cambridge school board votes to table mascot change
An effort to find a mascot in Cambridge has hit a snag.
The Cambridge Board of Education voted Thursday to table a motion to approve a mascot change.
Board members said that on the advice of the superintendent and legal counsel, they tabled the vote to give more time for the district to review additional information brought to its attention and to discuss with the school attorney.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to ask about that new information but did not hear back.
The district was ordered to retire its Indians moniker. The state has ordered removal of native-themed mascots and logos from school districts.
Cambridge had sued to retain the logo, but lost an appeal in December.
