Corinth residents voting on proposition for new village hall
Residents of the village of Corinth were voting Tuesday on a referendum about whether to bond $1.7 million to purchase and renovate a building for a new village hall.
The property at 97 Main St. was a bank until 2017. The current owner bought the building in 2021 for $500,000, according to a presentation from the village.
The building is for sale for $700,000 and the district would have to spend more money to replace the roof and install new heating, ventilation, electrical and air condition systems.
Residents successfully petitioned to put the matter to a referendum.
There is also a contested race for mayor. Current Deputy Mayor Dean Brown is seeking reelection. He was uncontested and now he faces a write-in campaign from Terry Miller, a former trustee, according to the Glens Falls Chronicle.
