Voters approve $54 million for upgrades to Hudson Falls schools
Voters in the Hudson Falls Central School District last week approved a $54 million capital project to upgrade its facilities.
The project includes upgrades to improve safety and security, improve accessibility in the buildings and make repairs to areas open to students and the community.
The vote on March 28 was 258 in favor to 196 in opposition.
Work at the high school includes fire-rated doors, additional security cameras, new clock and public address system, an IT backup generator and emergency generator, according to the district’s website.
Other projects include new boilers and renovations to the libraries and cafeterias at the middle school, intermediate school, primary school and kindergarten center. The kindergarten center would have the hallways, classrooms and cafeteria repainted.
The fitness room would also be updated. There will also be improved handicapped accessibility throughout the district.
The district receives 90% state aid reimbursement on the project.
