Maple Avenue to close for repairs from bridge strike that caused explosion
A portion of Maple Avenue in Glenville will be closed next week so crews can replace the railroad crossing bridge, which was damaged when a tractor-trailer hit it and caused a big explosion.
The roadway will be closed beginning Monday and last through Friday.

The bridge was damaged when it was struck by an 18-wheel tractor-trailer on the night of Dec. 21, injuring the driver and causing a large explosion with flames that reached as high as 200 feet in the air. The tractor-trailer was carrying compressed natural gas.
Vehicles heading south should take Glenridge Road to Bruce Drive and Alplaus Avenue as an alternate route. Northbound vehicles should take Alplaus Avenue to Bruce Drive to Glenridge Road.
